Ecoframes Film provided production services for Pinocchio, il bambino del mondo, directed by Paolo Borraccetti, with Andrea Poli as Director of Photography.
The documentary had its world premiere at the 2026 Rome Film Fest, screening at the MAXXI on 24 October.
From Florence to the World
Marking the bicentenary of Carlo Collodi’s birth, the film explores how Pinocchio has travelled across cultures and generations, becoming one of Italy’s most internationally recognised literary characters.
Archival material, rare editions and illustrations accompany sequences filmed inside the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, where Amalia Ruocco of Zaches Teatro brings Pinocchio to life as the narrator of his own extraordinary journey.
Voices from Cinema and Culture
The documentary features filmmaker Francesca Comencini, theatre director Davide Iodice, puppet director and designer Toby Olié, and actress Alida Baldari Calabria, who played the young Blue Fairy in Matteo Garrone’s Pinocchio. Guillermo del Toro appears through archival footage.
Other contributors include Caroline Anthérieu-Yagbasan, Francesca Tancini, Narjes Ghorbani, Gao Changxu and Anna Lushenkova Foscolo, bringing perspectives from philosophy, art and literature.
Production and Distribution
The film is produced by Simona Garibaldi and Alessandro Sansoni for Lilium Distribution, Enrica Capra for Tag Film, and Lidia Cudemo for D-Hub Studios.
A Lilium Distribution production, co-produced with Tag Film, in association with D-Hub Studios, the documentary was made in collaboration with Rai Documentari, ARTE G.E.I.E., the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze and Multimedia San Paolo – Milano.
Ecoframes Film provided production services, with Andrea Poli as Director of Photography.
