Per desiderio follows a journey between eastern Sicily and Pisa, beginning with Paola Tricomi’s passion for photographs of the sky. Together with astrophysicist Andrea Orlando, she meets people whose lives and work have been shaped by looking upwards.

Through conversations, photography, literature and science, the documentary explores our relationship with the sky and the different ways we understand it.

Ecoframes is the film’s original production company, with Andrea Poli as executive producer and director of photography. The documentary was made with the support of the Scuola Normale Superiore, the Scuola Superiore di Catania and the University of Catania.

Voices in the film

The film features astronaut Luca Parmitano; astrophysicist Andrea Ferrara and the Normale’s astrophysics and cosmology group; and astrophotographers Marco Meniero, Teresa Molinaro and Riccardo Agnello.

Alongside Paola Tricomi and Andrea Orlando, the contributors also include researchers Laura Sommovigo and Livia Vallini.
